What's new in AeroLog

Released October 21, 2026

• Live traffic now comes from the full airplanes.live network everywhere in the US, with adsb.lol as a backup. AeroLog's own receiver near Auburn now uses its correct antenna position, so its coverage area on the map is right.
• Files: mark up PDFs with Apple Pencil. After your first Pencil stroke the Pencil draws, your fingers scroll and your palm is ignored. The ink is smoother too.
• Markup has arrows, boxes, circles, text and line weights, in Imagery as well as Files. Undo with Ctrl/Cmd+Z and redo with Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z, Ctrl+Y or the new Redo button. Drag a text label to move it, or tap it to retype.
• Single-key tools while marking up: P H A R O T E. The markup palette sits along the top on a computer and along the bottom on phones and iPads, and opening it no longer makes the page jump.
• Long PDFs use less memory and stay smooth while you zoom. Your place in each document is saved on the device right away.
• Dashboard views have their own addresses (/atc/KAUO, /3d/…, /follow/…, /plan/KAUO-KLGC, /dashboard/KAUO), so you can bookmark or share them and Back works the way you'd expect.
• ATC scope: real shaded terrain, contours and spot elevations, Class B, C, D and E airspace with ceilings, FAA obstacles within 25 NM, and an extended runway centerline with 1 NM ticks.
• When the tower talks, the scope brings the field into view and frames the aircraft being addressed. Speakers are matched from partial callsigns ("4 Lima Charlie") and from what was said ("cleared to land", "ten miles south"). Those matches are marked "likely".
• Auburn audio is much clearer: wider audio bandwidth, noise reduction and a higher-quality stream, plus an EQ in the player on computers and Android.
• ATC on phones: a dark status bar, a tidier bottom dock (Freqs, Captions and Transcript are in the ⋯ menu) and smaller captions. The airport name no longer covers the top of the map.
• Charts and airport data updated to the 2026-10-19 FAA cycle.

Released October 13, 2026

• Live ATC: the dashboard's ATC view plays Auburn (KAUO) Tower, Ground and UNICOM live from AeroLog's own receiver, plus LaGrange (KLGC) CTAF heard from the same antenna. The ⋯ menu lists the supported airports.
• Each call is written out and matched to the aircraft whose callsign was spoken: a speech bubble on the scope, Captions above the radio bar, an optional Transcript log, and the view zooms to whoever is speaking (it waits if you've just panned or zoomed). Transcripts are machine speech-to-text and can be wrong. Never use them for navigation or as a record of a clearance.
• Audio starts on its own when you open a supported airport (turn off Auto-listen in the ⋯ menu). It plays about 15 seconds behind live so the caption and the aircraft show up with the voice.
• After the tower closes, Auburn switches to CTAF (Auburn Traffic) and UNICOM and hides Ground. The radio row sits above the traffic row in the bottom dock, with Frequencies and Airports one tap away.
• Live traffic comes first from AeroLog's own ADS-B receiver near Auburn, then the airplanes.live and adsb.lol networks. Fixed: the scope no longer goes blank when one network is busy.
• 3D view: lay the Sectional, IFR Low or IFR High chart over the terrain instead of satellite imagery, with a small chart map in the corner. Press H to hide every control for a clean view.
• Dashboard: in My location mode the map centers on your GPS position and the header names it. Your home field still sets the ramp, diagram and scenery.
• Your temperature and weight units apply everywhere: dashboard, map pop-ups, Organization, Airports, outside air temperature in the 3D view, Weight & Balance and Flights → W&B. The top bar, phone tabs and More menu follow your language.
• On iPhone, public, sign-in, onboarding and invite pages no longer sit under the status bar, the 3D flight card fits on a phone, and the 3D views keep a dark status bar in the light theme.
• Discovery plan: flights past the 5-flight limit are held, never deleted, and come back as soon as you upgrade or join a paid organization. The limit card shows how many are held, and your account export includes them.
• Logbook import: ForeFlight exports with a long aircraft list import correctly and take aircraft types from it, day landings include touch-and-goes, LogTen Pro columns are recognized, and MyFlightbook's internal aircraft number is no longer used as the tail number.
• Deleting or changing a broadcast or maintenance notice removes the old Flight Ops message from every inbox.
• Privacy and Subprocessors list airplanes.live and AeroLog's ATC receivers (your browser connects to a receiver directly when you play audio), and the Terms name who operates AeroLog.

Released October 9, 2026

• AeroLog now uses Google Analytics, with its advertising features off, to see which pages and tools people use. It never receives your logbook, files or anything you copy. Details and an opt-out are on the Privacy page, and Google is listed on the Subprocessors page.
• The top bar is Dashboard, Logbook, Flights, Schedule, Students, Organization (for members) and Files. Weather, Imagery, Airports, Currency and everything else are in More, grouped under Plan, Weather, Records and Community.
• On a phone, pick your own bottom tabs: More → Edit tabs.
• What's new has its own page, opened from your profile menu, with a small dot when there's something you haven't read. The AeroLog logo takes you to the dashboard.
• The profile, notifications and More menus are solid panels, so the map no longer shows through the text.
• Airports without an FAA diagram get an AeroLog diagram drawn from OpenStreetMap: runways with headings and length × width, taxiways with their letters, aprons, hold lines, hangars, tower and windsock, with pan and zoom. It's labelled not for navigation, and the FAA diagram always comes first when one exists.
• Imagery: SIGMETs, AIRMETs, Convective SIGMETs and PIREPs are decoded into plain English, with the raw bulletin one click away. Middle-mouse drag pans the chart in every tool, and text notes on a chart no longer disappear before you can type.
• Deleting flights in the Logbook, or a plan in Flights, happens at once with an Undo button instead of an "Are you sure?" box.
• The Logbook keeps your search and filters in the address, so Back, reload and shared links keep them. A flight with several problems shows them all at once and takes you to the first one.
• Flights remembers the open plan and whether you were on the navlog or the briefing across reloads and bookmarks.
• Settings save as you go, with one status at the bottom (Saving, All changes saved, or Couldn't save · Retry) instead of Save buttons and pop-ups.
• Confirmations and prompts are AeroLog windows instead of browser pop-ups, and Esc closes only the window on top.
• Currency answers "Privileges today" in four rows (act as PIC, passengers by day, passengers at night, IFR), each with its reason, regulation and how long it holds.
• Schedule shows grounded aircraft with a quiet grey hatch and one red dot instead of red warning stripes.
• The map draws only the private airports the sectional actually charts, closed airports are gone from the map and nearby lists, about 970 charted strips that were missing now show, renamed fields use their current FAA name, and foreign airports no longer appear on top of US ones.
• The sectional stays sharp at the closest zoom, and MOAs and restricted areas no longer vanish at some zoom levels after a slow FAA response.
• 3D view: the trail follows the aircraft's whole track at a steady width, and tiles you just looked at stay loaded when you look around.
• Signed-in pages load about 60 KB less code and public pages about 45 KB less, so they open faster.

• Imagery shows the charts the way you'd lay them out on a table: each chart on its own white page with its name underneath, instead of boxed cards.
• Live maps (AIR/SIGMETs, G-AIRMETs, TFRs, icing, turbulence, winds, PIREPs) are a simple list with what each one shows and how often it updates, instead of empty placeholder tiles.
• Fixed: alerts and the page footer no longer show through the Imagery page.

Released October 9, 2026

• Schedule shows every student you're linked with, including students outside your organization (they used to disappear from the "With" list). Pick one who isn't in your org and AeroLog tells you the booking stays on your two calendars, with Invite to org for admins or Ask an admin for instructors.
• Organization page: the header keeps the banner and logo with the name, type, home airports and your role as simple tags and the numbers in one light row; Overview puts announcements and the fleet first, with shortcuts, people and the library beside them.
• The background is AeroLog's near-black again instead of the blurred photo.
• Opening the 3D view no longer takes the dashboard down: if it can't load, a small panel offers to try again or close, and a page left open across an update reloads itself instead of showing "This page hit turbulence".
• Logbook: aircraft, type and route no longer get cut off on smaller laptop screens — the side panel moves under the list below 1440 px wide, and long types and routes wrap.
• The top bar fits on smaller laptops: the clock hides and Log flight becomes a + until there's room.
• News no longer lists live streams.

Released October 9, 2026

• Offline, opening an airport no longer shows "This page hit turbulence". Downloading a state now also saves the app itself for the dashboard, airports, flights, imagery, weather and logbook, and it re-saves after every update.
• The dashboard map draws offline over a downloaded state — coastline, water, roads and airports — and street, gray and satellite maps fall back to your downloaded sectional or imagery, even zoomed in past it. Re-download a state you saved before today to add the map data.
• Airport diagrams in Downloads also save the map's taxiway and apron overlay for those airports.
• Organization looks the same as the school's public page — banner, logo, home airports and numbers — with Overview and People for everyone, Training for instructors, and Settings for admins, where the name, logo, banner, details and rates are edited in place.
• Standings is one clean ranked list with bars against the leader, and Milestones show how close you are to each one.
• "Where I've flown" on profiles is a real map with your routes, airports sized by visits and a list of your top airports.
• Follow explains what following does, and pilots without a profile can be invited to make one.
• Profile pictures show in Messages again.
• Every page except the dashboard sits on a soft, blurred view of your home field behind translucent panels, in light and dark.

• Pilot profiles — publish a profile from Billboard → Your profile: your certificates, total time, the aircraft you've flown, a map of every airport you've landed at, and a timeline of your firsts, checkrides and endorsements, all built from your logbook. Choose public or private (private accounts approve each follower), what to share section by section, and an optional public web page.
• Find and follow pilots — search by name, @handle or home airport, filter by instructors, students, verified pilots or schools, and follow people to see their flying. Follow requests and new followers show up in the bell.
• Verified certificates — send a photo of your certificate to get the verified seal, or have a connected instructor vouch for your ratings. Every certificate on a profile says how it's backed: verified, vouched or self-reported. A Status check in Your profile shows what to update after a checkride.
• Profile badges show who you are on AeroLog — AeroLog Team, Verified pilot, Flight instructor, Student pilot, School admin, your plan and Early member — and each one is checked, not typed in.
• Your profile page is redone: your real profile header with the banner editable in place (a sky preset or your own photo), a live bio, and tabs for Profile, Privacy, What you share and Verification.
• Training progress on your profile — how far you are toward your next certificate, requirement by requirement, with your first solo and written test.
• The map on a profile is interactive: tap an airport for visits, first and last dates and the routes flown from it, zoom and drag, and open the airport.
• Flight school pages — schools publish a page with their instructors, fleet, home airports, rates, a banner and a leaderboard. Pilots find schools in Billboard → Schools, see the price of a dual lesson, message the school and request to join; admins approve or decline from the Organization page.
• Creating an organization walks you through it: name, type, Part 61/141, home airports, rental (wet or dry), fuel price, instruction rates and instructor pay. Instructor pay is visible to admins only.
• Messages everywhere — message a pilot from search, follower lists, join requests, school pages and "Pilots based here" on airport pages. Profile pictures in Messages open that pilot's profile.
• Downloads — a new page (More → Downloads) downloads whole states for flying offline: VFR sectional at every zoom, Terminal Area Charts, IFR low and high, every airport diagram, every approach, departure and arrival, the Chart Supplement for your region, and runway and frequency data for every public airport. It shows the size before you start and the storage you have, dates every download against the FAA chart and procedure cycles, and resumes where it stopped. The bell tells you when a download goes out of date.
• 3D view — aircraft are lit properly (white paint looks white, with real shading and self-shadows), the chase camera sits lower and slightly off the tail so you see the side of the airplane, and the trail is a soft wake instead of a bright line. Cockpit windows on airliners are in the right place, 777s and 787s have raked wingtips, King Airs have their engine nacelles, and spinning props look like a faint blur.
• Live traffic is more accurate — positions are never served stale anymore (a plane that had landed could show minutes-old altitude), and the 3D view retries instead of showing NO SIGNAL after one slow answer. Open any flight in 3D with a link: /dashboard?follow3d=CALLSIGN.
• Fixed: sectionals and aeronautical layers no longer blink out and reload after you've used the map for a while.
• Fixed: dropdown menus are dark in dark mode instead of white with unreadable text.
• Can I fly? and the Students page are cleaner, the AeroLog logo at the top left opens the website, and the default background is one flat color again.

Released October 6, 2026

• Watched aircraft (bell on the map's aircraft card) alert again on takeoff and landing. When the live feed was rate-limited the watch never got a single fix, so it never noticed the aircraft move — it now falls back to a second source, ignores stale positions, and looks airline flights up by callsign.
• 3D Airport home screen (beta) works like a screensaver: the dashboard opens on a slowly circling 3D view of your home field. Click or scroll and the normal map is back; leave it alone for 5 minutes and the 3D view returns. Moving the mouse doesn't switch it off.
• Owner console: the Broadcast tab is now Flight Ops, with a panel to read, send and delete Flight Ops messages for any account.

Released October 5, 2026

• 3D Airport home screen (beta) — Map Settings → Home screen → 3D Airport puts your home field in 3D behind the dashboard: runways, taxiways, lights and buildings, with live traffic on the ramp. Drag to look around, scroll or pinch to zoom, and it slowly circles when you leave it alone.
• Night in the 3D views looks like night — cool moonlit ground instead of the yellow tint, and a softer city glow.
• 3D Preview flies your planned altitude: long legs used to stretch the climb over the whole leg, so a 5,500 ft plan cruised at about 800 ft. Climb, cruise and descent now happen where they should.
• Map credits fold behind a small ⓘ on every map — tap it to read them.
• Navlog says where its numbers come from: with no cruise performance saved it links straight to the aircraft's Cruise / Climb / Descent editor, and it tells you when fuel on board is missing. Print navlog prints the one-page kneeboard (it used to print a blank page).
• Aircraft cards are much more compact — actions in one row, meters and last update on one line, three cards across on wide screens.
• Files sidebar and the account menu are plain, readable lists.
• Settings has one Performance switch for the whole app — 3D detail follows it.
• Rocket launches no longer sit in the collapsed Live card; they're under details, and past launches drop off an hour after liftoff.

Released October 4, 2026

• Progress tracking covers 57 certificates and ratings: sport, recreational, private, instrument, commercial and ATP in every category the FAA issues (airplane, helicopter, gyroplane, powered-lift, glider, balloon, airship, weight-shift and powered parachute), add-on multi-engine and seaplane, type ratings, CFI / CFII / MEI / CFI-H / CFI-G, the sport-pilot instructor rating, BGI / AGI / IGI ground instructors, and the Part 107 remote pilot. Every minimum is checked against the current eCFR, including the July 2025 sport-pilot (MOSAIC) rules.
• Category-aware hours — lines like "50 hours in helicopters" count only flights logged in that category, and glider and balloon requirements count flights and launches, not just hours. Set Category / class on a flight for exact numbers.
• Students — pick any target certificate, and record how each student trains: Part 61, a Part 141 course (with its ground and flight minimums) or Part 142, the TSA flight-training eligibility check (49 CFR 1552), English proficiency, and military, foreign-license or university R-ATP pathways.
• The readiness board knows the category: no medical needed for glider and balloon students, a driver's license is fine for sport pilots, solo at 14 in a glider or balloon, and certificate ages from 16 (glider, balloon, Part 107) to 23 (ATP). A new TSA tile flags students whose eligibility isn't on file.
• New syllabus outlines for helicopter, gyroplane, glider, balloon, weight-shift, powered parachute, sport, recreational, instrument-helicopter, commercial multi-engine and helicopter, multi-engine and seaplane add-ons, type ratings, CFII, MEI, CFI-H, CFI-G, sport instructor, ground instructor and Part 107 — each linked to the right AC 61-65K endorsements.
• Pilot status adds aircraft ratings (multi-engine, seaplane, helicopter, glider and more), CFI-H, CFI-G, CFI-Sport, ground instructors and Part 107, grouped in Settings and onboarding.
• Currency adds Part 107 recurrent training (every 24 calendar months) and TSA security awareness training for instructors and school staff (every 2 years).
• Fixed: the sport pilot solo cross-country now reads 75 nm with full-stop landings at 2 points (MOSAIC), commercial multi-engine no longer lists TAA time, CFIs see the 15-hour PIC requirement (61.183(j)), and MEI candidates see 15 hours of multi-engine PIC.

• Flight planner — tap FPL on the dashboard map. Type a route with airports, VORs and NDBs, or lat/lon points (KEET VUZ 33.41/-85.82 KPDK), pick the aircraft and cruise profile, altitude and departure time, and get distance, fuel, ETE, ETA and the average head/tailwind from the FAA winds aloft at your altitude. The route draws on the map in magenta. Edit on map adds points where you tap, Route Advisor suggests direct and VOR-to-VOR routes, Reverse and Clear do what they say, the leg list shows course, wind, groundspeed, time and fuel for every leg, and ★ saves the plan to Flights on every device.
• Map menu — Charts & Layers and Map Settings now open from the top-right of the map, next to a new Ruler: tap points to measure distance and course, with a running total. Maps and Layers sit side by side with checkboxes, and your AeroLog extras (location, opacity, FBO parking, dashboard layout and offline Downloads) live in Map Settings. Zoom, recenter and FBO moved to a tool column on the right edge.
• Weather layers — Flight Category, Surface Winds (wind barbs), Temperature, Visibility, Ceiling, Dewpoint Spread, AIR/SIGMETs with G-AIRMETs, and PIREPs, straight from aviationweather.gov.
• Airports — a new section with Info, Weather, Runway, Procedure and NOTAM tabs for any airport: frequencies, runways, sunrise and twilight, the METAR decoded and the TAF by period, head/crosswind for every runway with the favored one, every FAA chart, and Plan flight to send it to the planner.
• NOTAMs are readable — sorted into Runway, Taxiway, Aerodrome, Nav, Procedures, Obstacles and Services, with plain-English text (switch back to raw any time), effective times in your own time zone, and search.
• Airport diagrams and approach plates open truly full screen, scaled to fit the whole page, with rotate and zoom.
• Weight & Balance — load the aircraft seat by seat with fuel, taxi and burn, and see ramp, takeoff, landing and zero-fuel weights and CG on an envelope chart with every limit checked. It uses the W&B from the aircraft's profile, or a quick profile you can edit right there.
• Files is now organized into Binders (your own collections of documents from any drive), My Drives with Import, and Drives — a new FAA drive with the current Chart Supplement for every region, the d-TPP supplemental, the AIM, the FAA handbooks, the regulations and flight plan forms, plus the AeroLog drive.
• Documents open in a reader with tabs for every open document, Add to Binder, and annotations — pen, highlighter and eraser in six colors, with undo — saved to your account.
• More on phones now rises from the far-right tab: Downloads and Settings up top, your views with Edit Tab Order, and a flight timer that counts up or down.
• The blue background glow is back in dark mode.
• Flights — every planned flight in one place with the full form (date, departure, destination, alternate, aircraft, profile, route, altitude, flight rules, FBO, fuel and the flight log), plus Add Next Flight, Copy and Log this flight.
• Navlog builds itself from the route: checkpoints, true course, variation, magnetic course, winds and temperature aloft, wind correction, magnetic heading, distance, groundspeed, leg and total time, ETA and fuel remaining — printable.
• Briefing — a standard-briefing layout generated from your route: TFRs, closed/unsafe NOTAMs, convective SIGMETs, SIGMETs, AIRMETs and urgent PIREPs along the corridor, METARs at your airports and en route, TAFs, winds aloft per leg and NOTAMs.
• Right-click (or long-press) the map for everything at that spot — coordinates and magnetic variation, TFRs and AIRMETs covering it, the airspace with floors and ceilings, airways, airports, VORs/NDBs and fixes — each one a tap from Add to Route. Routes now understand fixes (GIFFY) and airways (V168) too.
• TFRs on the map, plus satellite (infrared and visible) and lightning layers. Every TFR, AIRMET, SIGMET, PIREP and station dot opens its details.
• The ruler is a drag now, and shows distance with magnetic and true course in both directions (WMM-2025 variation).
• Every airport shows on the map — big fields from far out, all of them as you zoom in.
• MOAs & special use airspace and ARTCC center boundaries are map layers now. Tap a MOA, restricted, warning or alert area for its altitudes, times of use and controlling agency, or a center boundary for the nearest center frequencies — and the right-click menu lists center frequencies for any spot.
• Tapped TFRs, SIGMETs, AIRMETs, PIREPs and stations open a cleaner details card: the key facts up top, the full text below, and Copy.
• The ruler is a thick black line with end bars and a "102°M → 23.7 NM ← 283°M" label, true courses underneath.
• Downloads moved off the map — on phones it opens from More, in its own view. Aircraft have a dark outline so they stand out on any chart.
• Airport info is easier to read: quick stats up top (elevation, pattern altitude, variation, weather), grouped sections, frequencies in their own rows, sunrise and sunset in Zulu, and no more placeholder strips in Nearby.
• Your own PDFs in My Files open full screen in the document reader, with tabs and annotations.
• Send a planned route to Flights straight from the planner — Navlog, Briefing or the full flight form are one tap away.
• Search inside your files — the new search at the top right of Files finds words in PDFs, scanned pages and photos (OCR), not just file names, across My Files, Shared and your org library.
• Download a flight for offline: charts along the route corridor, the plates and airport diagrams for your departure, destination and alternate, and the flight's weather, NOTAMs, TFRs and winds — the Navlog, Briefing and map keep working without signal.
• Flights shows weather at each airport and what touches the route (TFRs, convective SIGMETs, SIGMETs, AIRMETs, NOTAMs), with remarks, fuel price and estimated fuel cost, and a Share menu: copy, email, print or send.
• Departure, arrival and approach procedures in the flight planner and on Flights, each one tap from the full-screen plate.
• The ruler stays put while you pan — drag an end to adjust it — and shows the coordinates of both ends. Lat/lon points on a route show their coordinates too.
• Airport cards lead with what you need first — Airport Diagram, Procedures, frequencies and runways — in the same frosted-glass style as the rest of the map, and the close button no longer hides under the map buttons.
• Smaller aircraft card on the map, a loading screen while the 3D view gets ready, and the dashboard Shortcuts card is gone.
• Search inside any PDF — documents in Files, previews, airport diagrams and plates — with the Search button (or Ctrl/⌘+F): every match is highlighted on the page, with a list to jump between them. Scanned pages are read with OCR.
• The share button in the document reader shares the PDF itself — AirDrop, Messages, Mail through your device's share sheet — or copies the link, downloads or opens the original.
• The Live card covers much more: notable flights airborne now (manufacturer test flights, VIP missions, hurricane hunters, firefighters and rare aircraft like the Beluga or a B-52), active hurricanes and tropical storms, convective SIGMETs and volcanic ash, TFR highlights (VIP, space launches, hazards, airshows), where GPS interference was reported yesterday, and the big airshows and fly-ins coming up — each with a Map button.
• Documents open fitted to your screen instead of zoomed in, and each airport shows a small airport diagram at the top — tap it for full screen — next to elevation, pattern altitude, variation, weather and the key frequencies.
• Airport cards on the map are tabbed (Info, Weather with METAR / TAF / MOS / Winds / Nearby, Runway, Procedure, NOTAM), and the Airports page adds runway surfaces and lighting, every frequency, public/private use, magnetic variation and nearby airports.
• Diagrams, plates and documents zoom with the scroll wheel (Ctrl/⌘ + wheel in documents) and pan by dragging.
• Weight & Balance is laid out like the cockpit app you know: BEM / ZFM / TOM / LDM against their limits, a real CG envelope, a line per seat, cargo and fuel with limits, and fuel to destination pulled straight from your flight plan.
• The 3D view lets you drag to look around the aircraft (and around the cockpit); Reset view puts you back behind it.
• Messages — start a conversation with any AeroLog pilot by email or by the phone number they add in Settings, delete a conversation on your side, and edit or delete your own messages from the ⋯ menu.
• Billboard shows AeroLog's posts from X.

• Logging a flight is much faster — Repeat last flight, one-tap recent routes, and the meters start where that aircraft's last flight stopped. Type the total once and tap where it counts (PIC, dual, XC, night, actual, hood); Out/In times fill the total and work out your night time from civil twilight; the route's distance flags cross-country over 50 nm; a landing after sunset + 1 hour is offered as a night landing. Steppers for landings, approaches and holds, approach-type chips, Save & next leg, and Ctrl/⌘ + Enter to save.
• Every logbook field — takeoffs, full-stop landings, approach type/runway/airport, intercepting & tracking, ground training given and received, simulator/ATD time, safety pilot, category & class, complex / high-performance / tailwheel / TAA / turbine / pressurized, flight review / IPC / checkride / WINGS, NVG time and passengers. They export to ForeFlight too.
• Currency covers more — night passenger currency now counts full-stop night landings, an IPC you log restores instrument currency, flight reviews, checkrides and WINGS phases you log update your flight review, tailwheel currency works from the Tailwheel flag, and new cards track CFI recent experience (61.197), the BasicMed course, ground instructor recency (61.217), 61.58 PIC checks, and passenger currency per category/class. The instrument window now follows calendar months exactly.
• Endorsements — all 96 sample endorsements from the FAA's current AC 61-65K (November 2025, including the new MOSAIC sport-pilot ones), searchable and grouped by certificate. Each one shows what has to happen before it's signed, its regulation, and whether it expires, and the form only asks for the details that endorsement uses — student certificate grade and number, make and model, airports, route, test name, limitations — with a live preview.
• Your "On file" list now matches everywhere — certificates and ratings from your pilot profile show on the Endorsements page as well as Currency, and endorsements you transcribe show on Currency too. Pick your instructor from a list when you add one.
• Currency — a lapsed instrument currency now tells you whether you can still fly approaches to get it back or need an IPC (14 CFR 61.57(d)). Fixed: a 1st-class medical for ATP privileges is good for 12 months when you were under 40 at the exam, not 6.
• Airport info — the official FAA airport diagram and every approach, departure and arrival chart open right from the airport card, plus winds for each runway with the favored one, density altitude, NOTAMs, and AirNav/SkyVector links.
• Aircraft ADs — each aircraft has an ADs tab that searches FAA airworthiness directives for its make and model (and any engine or prop you add), clearly marked as auto-found with links to verify on the FAA's site.
• Messages — edit or unsend your own messages for 24 hours after sending.
• Dashboard — tapping a student's "needs …" item opens that student's syllabus with the step highlighted and the endorsements it takes, one tap from issuing. Expiring endorsements open the renewal for that student. Attention now has an Updates section: new study material, sign-offs to acknowledge, new AeroLog releases, and the FAA chart cycle.
• News — a redesigned briefing with a top-story layout, topic filters, search, and read stories dimmed.
• Files — Files is in the top bar. The organization library now says plainly that everyone in your org can see it, and files you put there can be moved back to your private files. Sending a file from your vault in Messages now marks it as shared so you can see and stop the share.
• Schedule — a guide for bringing in Flight Circle calendars, including other instructors' and the whole school's.
• The Aircraft section has an airplane icon.
• Offline charts — download FAA VFR sectionals, terminal area charts, IFR low and high enroute charts, and satellite imagery for any area, right from the map menu's new Downloads tab. Each download is dated against the FAA's 56-day chart cycle, and the bell tells you before and after a chart goes out of date, with one-tap Update.
• My location — the dashboard map can start at where you are instead of your home base (map menu → Settings), with a blue you-are-here dot. Your home base is never changed. Weather follows the same setting.
• The ATC view is now view-only — the radio controls are gone and a new bottom bar filters traffic by Ground, Tower or Approach, shows who's airborne and on the ground, and follows any aircraft you tap. It's also much smoother: the map no longer redraws the whole world on every frame.
• The live 3D aircraft view is back and rebuilt — tap 3D on a fleet strip or an aircraft's map card. Each aircraft gets its own model (737, A320, 777, 747, regional and business jets, ATRs, King Airs, Cessnas, Cherokees, Robinson and turbine helicopters, gliders and more) in its airline's paint, at its true altitude, banking into turns. It shows the route flown so far as a 3D trail with contrails at cruise, the filed route with time to go and ETA, live weather (clouds at their reported heights, radar, wind and visibility from the nearest METAR), sun-lit terrain with 3D buildings and real city lights after dark, and nearby traffic — tap any tag to follow it. Chase, Orbit and Cockpit cameras, smooth movement between position updates, and optional engine sound with a volume slider.
• 3D map — pick 3D in the map menu's basemap row to fly the camera freely over a real-world 3D map with live traffic at its real altitudes. Drag to move, right-drag or two-finger drag to tilt and turn, and tap any aircraft to open its 3D view.
• Search the dashboard map by tail number or callsign (N172SP, DAL123) as well as airport identifier — it flies to the aircraft and follows it.
• Map icons — Cessna 172s no longer show as a four-engine transport, 737 MAX jets and taxiing airliners show as jets, and helicopters show as helicopters.
• A faster dashboard — it starts loading while you sign in, the ATC view only loads when you open it, and the green ATC terrain now loads from a shared cache and stays on your device between visits. Older phones and tablets get a new Smooth mode automatically (or pick it in Settings → Preferences → Performance) that drops the glass blur and eases off the map's redraw rate.
• Dark and Light maps are fixed — our previous map provider started requiring an API key, so those basemaps now come from Esri.
• Full aircraft profile — each aircraft now has a full Profile: serial number, ICAO type and wake category, glide ratio and best-glide speed, fuel capacity and burn rates, a cruise/climb/descent performance table, weight and balance with loading stations, equipment and ICAO filing codes, survival gear, hourly operating cost, and personal minimums. Attach its POH, registration and airworthiness paperwork from your Files.
• AeroLog Library — a new drive in Files with reference documents published by AeroLog, free for every pilot.
• PDFs open in a built-in viewer — no more "This content is blocked". Every page renders in the app, including on iPhone and iPad, and PDF files show a real first-page preview instead of a PDF icon. Audio, video and text previews and file downloads were fixed too.
• Logbook — newest flights are now always at the top. Search matches your route, every stop, the instructor, the aircraft type and remarks, and several words at once ("KSEA KPAE").
• Importing — CSV imports keep every stop of a multi-stop flight and bring in instructor names. Tab- and semicolon-separated files work, 1:30-style times read correctly, and ForeFlight's approach columns count properly. Photo scans read stops and the instructor too.
• Rocket launches in Live — the dashboard's What's happening card now lists upcoming launches with a live countdown, the pad on the map, and a heads-up when a US launch is close enough that a TFR is likely.
• A cleaner emergency alert — squawk 7500/7600/7700 alerts are now a centered card with the callsign, altitude and ground speed up front, and View on map / Dismiss buttons.
• Attachments show up in the Messages panel — photos and files sent in a conversation used to appear as a dash everywhere but the inbox.
• Org invites are delivered for you — inviting someone now emails them a private link and, if they already have an AeroLog account, drops it into their inbox and notifications (with a push on their phone). Pending invites can be re-sent with one tap; there's no link to copy and pass along anymore.
• New in setup: "Aviation enthusiast", for people who love aviation but don't fly (yet). Pick it and setup skips the certificates, hours, currency and aircraft questions — and Settings stops asking about hours flown. Choose a pilot status later and they all come back.

Released August 16, 2026

• The file vault is now part of Aviator and up — Discovery no longer includes personal file storage. Nothing you already uploaded is deleted; it stays stored and unlocks again the moment you upgrade.
• Members of an organization keep the shared library and files shared with them on any plan — that's part of what the org subscription pays for. Uploading to your personal vault is what needs Aviator.
• Pricing, billing, and the plan comparison were updated to match.

Released August 13, 2026

• Say what you hold, once — Settings now has a pilot status you set in one place, and it takes more than one value, so Commercial + CFII is finally something you can actually say. Currency's next-certificate target, your dashboard, endorsement templates and org labels all read from it instead of guessing. Existing accounts are converted automatically.
• Org member discounts apply on their own — 20% off Aviator on Organization, 30% on Organization Elite, with no code to type. The price you see is the price PayPal charges. If you become eligible while already subscribed, Billing offers to move you; PayPal asks you to approve the change, as it always does for a price change.
• Hours you flew before AeroLog now count. The number the setup wizard asked for was being saved somewhere nothing read, so it never showed up. It counts toward your totals now, and Settings lets you correct it.
• Medical shows the whole privilege ladder — a first-class exam gives you first-class privileges for a while, then second, then third, each with its own date. Currency used to quote only the first one, which told Class 1 holders they had lapsed when they had years left. Set which privileges you actually need in Customize.
• Deleting a file now really deletes it. A rules bug rejected every delete while the app reported success, so the file vanished from your list and the upload stayed, still counting against your storage.
• Signing in no longer breaks cloud sync. A race meant data could stop syncing until you signed out and back in.
• Schedule — edit or remove your own booking straight from the block, see that an aircraft is in maintenance when you pick it rather than after you fill the form, and student photos in the availability panel.
• Organization — you can no longer be your own student, deleting a lesson note asks first, and instructor photos show up where their name does.
• Finance — a student who leaves keeps their unpaid invoices visible and payable until the balance clears, tagged as a former member. Changing your rates now tells the org.
• ATC mode keeps the traffic the map already found. Switching into it used to throw the picture away and start over, so a momentary gap in the ADS-B feed left an empty scope while the map behind it still showed aircraft. It also says which it is now — “no traffic reported” when the feed came back empty, rather than a bare zero.
• When the traffic feed answers but has nothing, we now try the backup source instead of drawing an empty map.
• Schedule and rosters drop people the moment they leave. A removed student used to linger — still listed, still showing availability — until you reloaded. Pairings your organization created end with the membership; a direct instructor connection you made outside an org survives it.
• Flight Ops tells you when a balance is outstanding, without putting the amount in the notification. Org admins set the dollar point where it fires.
• Fixed: dragging an FBO or its ramp corners now saves. Placing one already did.
• Light theme, properly — panels over the map are translucent again, and a large group of buttons, chips and inputs that were rendering with no background at all now paint correctly in both themes.
• The logbook's activity chart is readable — small months were being drawn as invisible slivers, and the monthly and year-to-date figures were counted differently.
• Settings lost the controls that did nothing, and the custom wallpaper feature is gone. Reduce motion now follows your system setting instead of a second switch here.
• The privacy policy and subprocessor list now match what the app actually loads.

Released August 11, 2026

• Export to ForeFlight and LogTen — the logbook's Export menu now produces a ForeFlight Logbook Import file and a LogTen-ready tab-separated file, so your hours travel with you.
• Download your data — Settings → Data & sync exports everything your account stores (profile, logbook, aircraft, endorsements, settings) as one JSON file.
• Your logbook now syncs flight-by-flight instead of as one big document — saves are smaller and faster, and the old ~1 MB ceiling on a whole flying career is gone. The switch happens automatically the first time you open the app; nothing to do.

Released August 10, 2026

• Push notifications actually arrive now — a deploy gap meant nothing was being sent since the per-device subscription change. If you enabled notifications before, just open the app once on each device to re-register.
• Booking reminders with a weather brief — a push the day before and two hours before each booking, with the field's current METAR attached so you know the conditions before you drive out.
• Currency and expiry warnings — a weekly check that warns you before day/night passenger currency lapses, your flight review or medical expires, or a CFI-issued endorsement runs out.
• Fleet emergency alerts — if one of your organization's aircraft squawks 7700, 7600, or 7500 anywhere in the world, everyone in the org gets a push immediately, even with the app closed.
• Watch any aircraft — tap the bell on an aircraft's map card to get a push when it takes off, lands, or squawks an emergency.
• Every new notification type has its own toggle in Settings → Notifications.
• Mobile scrolling un-stuck — the schedule's day grid no longer swallows vertical swipes, and the dashboard map now lets one-finger swipes scroll the page (pan with a horizontal drag or two fingers).
• iPad layout fixed — the top nav no longer hides under the status bar or clips its tabs; tablets now get the mobile navigation that actually fits.
• Light theme on the dashboard is genuinely light — the map defaults to the light basemap, panels, chips, and links all follow the theme, and aircraft are drawn in dark ink so they're visible on light tiles.

• The ATC basemap is now drawn from real geography — true coastlines, lakes, rivers and country borders anywhere on the planet, loaded instantly with no map tiles to wait for.
• Real infrastructure, worldwide: as you zoom in anywhere, actual roads, railways, small lakes and power lines (every pylon at its true position) stream in from OpenStreetMap and stay cached as you pan — and the amber highway network now reads across a whole country, not just around your field.
• Real city labels and named mountain peaks with elevations, ranked by zoom — capitals from orbit, every town and summit up close.
• The fullscreen ATC tower view is properly airport-scoped again: it keeps the full real-world detail around your field, the camera can't wander off into empty space, and a centered "Return to airport" button appears under the airport name whenever you roam.
• Weather now tells the truth: airports whose weather station is offline or decommissioned no longer show a frozen weeks-old METAR as if it were live (and stale TAFs are dropped the same way). If the official feed has no current METAR, neither do we.
• Aircraft info cards now open beside the aircraft instead of covering it and its track.
• Taxiing and parked traffic now grey back on the map and in ATC mode, so the aircraft actually flying stand out at a glance.
• The landing page got its light/dark toggle back — and a richer hero: a denser amber taxiway web, full-length runway guide lines, and live-style GND datablocks on the ramp.
• The map's Charts & layers panel lost its duplicates — the radar toggle, traffic filter, and FBO parking each live in exactly one place now.

• Drag-to-create bookings — sweep across an aircraft or instructor lane on the schedule's day grid (like Google Calendar) to pick a time and duration, then choose the student and whether it's a flight or a ground lesson.
• Instructors now have their own lanes on the day grid, so ground lessons and checkride prep book like any aircraft slot.
• Aircraft status management — mark a fleet aircraft Available / In maintenance / Grounded, and pilots can file squawks (with an optional grounding flag). Unavailable aircraft can't take new flight bookings, show striped on the schedule, and surface in the dashboard Attention feed along with 100-hour/annual inspections coming due.
• Push notifications are live — messages, schedule delays and cancellations, Flight Ops updates, and org announcements, each with its own toggle in Settings → Notifications. The bell menu and the installed app now offer to turn them on.
• Live emergency alerts — when an aircraft squawks 7700/7600/7500 anywhere in the world, a card slides in with a chime and a "View on map" that flies the dashboard map to the aircraft and follows it. Live squawks also pin to the top of What's happening.
• New News section — live aviation headlines, incident reports, the most-watched flights right now, and live spotter streams. Possibly-sensitive images ask before showing.
• Date of birth on your profile now drives the FAA under/over-40 medical duration automatically — no more self-declared checkbox.
• Student-friendly currency: instrument 6-in-6 only shows for instrument-rated (or instrument-training) pilots, a new "I haven't had a flight review yet" option, and the Next-certificate card gained a tickable required-experience checklist (150 nm solo XC, tower landings, and the rest).
• Org library PDFs now show a real first-page thumbnail, with a "sensitive" option that hides previews behind an explicit reveal.
• Logbook photo scan is now an Aviator-and-above perk.
• Support now runs through a dedicated console account with live-user presence, and support messages are rate-limited against spam.
• The FBO parking button is back on the map dock, dashboard panels are glassier, section icons are blue again, and stuck "plan changed / subscription cancelled" notices now expire and dismiss properly.

• Logbook photo scan — photograph a paper logbook page (or pick an existing photo) and AeroLog extracts every flight row into a review table. Review and correct each row before anything is imported.
• Scanned entries are clearly marked — an amber "Scanned" badge shows in the logbook, on mobile cards, and in printed exports, so scan-imported rows are never mistaken for hand-typed ones.
• Scanning has a per-account daily cap and automatically switches to a backup service when the primary one is busy.
• ATC mode now starts the radio the moment you enter — no play button hunt — and keeps the audio rolling when you switch frequencies or airports. Pause still means pause.
• The radio now heals itself: a dead LiveATC stream triggers automatic reconnects to a fresh server with a "reconnecting" status, instead of failing straight to an error.
• An "Open on LiveATC" link is now always available in ATC mode as a fallback player, and the broken Broadcastify link is gone.
• Resuming a paused ATC stream now rejoins live audio instead of replaying stale buffer.
• Paid subscriptions are now live through PayPal — Aviator, Instructor, and all Organization tiers, monthly or annual.
• Landing-page polish — every section now eases in as you scroll, including the stats band and footer.
