Getting started
How do I log my first flight?
Open /logbook and tap + Log flight. Pick the date, choose an aircraft from your fleet (or type a tail number), and enter either Hobbs start/end or a Total time — AeroLog computes the rest. PIC, XC, night, and currency update automatically.
Where do I add my aircraft?
Add personal aircraft on /aircraft. If you fly for an organization, fleet aircraft show up automatically once an admin invites you.
How do I install AeroLog on my phone?
On iPhone: open aerolog.us in Safari → Share → Add to Home Screen. On Android Chrome: ⋮ menu → Install app. AeroLog runs offline after the first load.
Logbook & imports
Can I import from ForeFlight, LogTen, or MyFlightbook?
Yes — AeroLog auto-detects column names from all three (and most spreadsheets). Open the logbook, click Import CSV, and pick your export. See the full import guide for the per-app export steps.
How do I export my logbook?
From /logbook, use Export CSV for spreadsheets, Export PDF for a printable checkride-ready logbook, or Backup (JSON) for a complete, restorable archive.
An imported flight shows 0 hours — why?
The Total column is empty and the Hobbs start/end columns are empty in the source file. Fill either the Hobbs pair or a Total before exporting, then re-import. AeroLog never overwrites a value you entered manually.
Can I undo an import?
Imports append rather than replace, so the safest undo is to delete the imported rows from the logbook table. If you imported a large batch, restore your most recent Backup (JSON) to roll the logbook back wholesale.
Currency & endorsements
Are the currency rings free?
Yes — color-coded currency rings (day, night, IFR, flight review, medical) are available on every plan, including Discovery (free).
How does my CFI sign an endorsement?
On /endorsements, your CFI selects the endorsement template, signs on the touchscreen or trackpad, and saves. The signed endorsement is timestamped, immutable, and exportable as PDF.
Why does my flight review currency say expired when I just flew?
A flight review (61.56) requires either a CFI-logged review or a WINGS phase. Logging a regular dual-received flight does not reset the 24-month clock — your CFI must specifically endorse the flight review.
CFIs & organizations
How do I invite students to my org?
Org admins use /org → Invite to send a one-time-link email. Students join automatically after accepting.
Can students see other students' logbooks?
No. Students see only their own logbook. CFIs see students they're explicitly assigned to. Org admins see roster-level summaries, not individual flights, unless granted explicit access.
Weather
Why is the METAR blank?
Either the airport ICAO is mistyped, or the station has no recent observation (most common at non-towered fields after midnight local). Try the nearest reporting field — AeroLog will fall back to it on flight cards.
Are NOTAMs official FAA data?
Yes — NOTAMs come directly from the FAA NOTAM API. Always cross-check with an official briefing before flight.
Plans & billing
What's the difference between Discovery and Aviator?
Discovery (free) is capped at 5 logged flights and doesn't include the file vault, but has full weather and currency tracking. Aviator (paid) removes the flight cap and adds the 5 GB file vault and the logbook photo scan. See /pricing.
How do I upgrade or change my plan?
/billing → pick a plan → checkout via PayPal. Upgrades take effect immediately; downgrades take effect at the end of the current period.
Can I get a refund?
Within 14 days of a new subscription, yes — email team@aerolog.us with your account email and we'll refund through PayPal.
Account & data
How do I change my password?
Sign out, then go to /forgot-password and enter your email. We'll send a reset link.
How do I delete my account?
/settings → Delete account. This permanently erases your logbook, endorsements, files, and org memberships. Export a JSON backup first if you want a copy.
Where is my data stored?
Google Cloud (Firebase), encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.3. Full details on /security.
